It is a Montessori album of lesson presentations and more, used by the adult for preparing to guide the child through different works. Our Hometessori manual provides step-by-step instructions to introduce the material and to engage the child to work on the different activities.
Each manual has 3 main sections:
I. Theory - This section provides the overview, background, principles, and guidelines related to each key learning area or subject in Montessori, as well as the corresponding development observed in the child.
II. Activities - These are key Montessori lessons that are divided into categories, arranged in progressing sequence within each category. Each lesson includes:
- Recommended age of initial presentation,
- Materials needed,
- Why the activity is done,
- Steps in presenting the lesson, and for some,
- Points of interest*
- Extension activities*
III. Tools - In order to navigate through the manual, plan the lessons, record your observations, and monitor the child's progress, we've also added different templates and the Montessori scope and sequence for each key learning area.
✔ Easy Navigation: You can easily access the manuals on your device, without printing. On the digital file, we have clickable links from the Table of Contents and from the Scope and Sequence for quicker navigation.
✔ Prepared Scripts: Most lessons have suggested scripts, which help the adult know how to invite the child, how to describe an idea, how to proceed, and others. These sample scripts are in red and with quotation marks which makes it more distinguishable and easier to read through.
✔ Printer Icon 🖨️ This is present on every material with a corresponding printable resource in our Print Kit. This can help you decide what materials are left to buy or prepare for, apart from the provided printable materials.
✔ Intended for Homeschool: Primarily, but not exclusively. This means that (a) most of the lessons and games are presented to an individual child or with friends, only if possible, (b) the Practical Life lessons are extensions of what is natural in the home environment, (c) there are suggested materials that can be found in the home or made in the home.
However, this can easily be used in a classroom setting, especially for new Montessori guides and in limited setups.
✔ Commitment to Montessori Principles: Hometessori stays true to Montessori scope and sequences and principles, providing pages of Montessori theories and concepts in each learning area to help the adult in her own preparation. This ensures that every lesson is presented with intention and guided by the Montessori philosophy.
In the Basic Collection, the key learning areas are:
1. SENSORIAL - where the manual includes activities and extension work to help develop the visual (dimension, color, shape), tactile, gustatory, olfactory, auditory, and stereognostic senses of the child.
2. PRACTICAL LIFE - wherein the activities are divided into preliminary exercises, care of self, care of environment, care of relationships (or grace and courtesy), and control of movement.
3. LANGUAGE - with activities for preparation, as well as those that fall under spoken language, writing, mechanical reading, function of words, and word study.
We created a Montessori reading program that is aligned with the Science of Reading and is broken down into stages with a beautiful work progression. It's worth mentioning too that the approach to the word and grammar studies in the primary set precedence for elementary work. Overall, the Language manual lays foundation for more advanced learning later on.
4. MATH - wherein the activities included are for establishing concrete concepts of quantity (numbers 1-10, decimal system, and counting), operations (addition and subtraction), fractions, measurements, and money, then to navigating through more abstract mathematical concepts.
